Damsel (2024) -Storyline

The film opens with the first king of Aurea leading a doomed assault against a dragon, resulting in the slaughter of his men and his own capture. Centuries later, Princess Elodie, daughter of Lord Bayford, accepts a marriage proposal from Queen Isabelle of Aurea to wed her son, Prince Henry. This alliance aims to alleviate her family’s financial hardships.
Upon arriving in Aurea, Elodie and Henry initially share a mutual disinterest but gradually bond over their shared desire for adventure. Elodie’s stepmother, Lady Bayford, grows suspicious of Queen Isabelle’s intentions and warns Elodie to reconsider the marriage, but her concerns are dismissed.
Following their wedding, Elodie and Henry participate in a traditional mountain ritual. During the ceremony, Henry betrays Elodie by casting her into a chasm as a sacrificial offering to the dragon, honoring an ancient pact to ensure the kingdom’s safety.
Surviving the fall, Elodie confronts the dragon and discovers that previous brides were sacrificed under similar pretenses. Utilizing her resourcefulness, she escapes the dragon’s lair and learns that her younger sister, Floria, is slated to be the next sacrifice. Determined to end the cycle, Elodie returns to confront the dragon and expose the royal family’s deceit.
The film culminates with Elodie interrupting another sacrificial ceremony, revealing the treachery of the Aurean royals. She advises the new bride’s family to flee, and the dragon incinerates the palace, eradicating the corrupt nobility. Elodie, Floria, and Lady Bayford depart for home, accompanied by the dragon, symbolizing a new alliance and hope for the future.
